What is Power Vinyasa Yoga and why are you drawn to it?
When I first started yoga, I was totally drawn to the physicality of the practice. My background is exercise physiology and went to yoga for another way to cross train. It took a year and half before I ever realized the spiritual side. Now that is my main focus. I love that this style of yoga is a doorway for many who would never try yoga.
Power means to act on your own behalf, Vinyasa means to place things in a special way and Yoga means skill in action, "Power Vinyasa Yoga" is the way to live life powerfully with skill.
Where do you see yoga evolving in the west?
Wherever it evolves its good to remember, It's All Yoga. Don't take life so seriously. No one gets out alive anyway!
What mantra do you most recommend?
I love myself for who I am right now; the journey of yoga is self-love. We must do this first before we can fully love others.
What is the most compromising/precarious place you've ever done yoga?
I was in Mysore India last year with a photographer from Australia and we did a photo shoot in a market, where for India I was scantily clad. I climbed in and out of food booths and almost got arrested for standing on a "fountain"
Tell us your favorite yoga pose!
Always Handstand or anything upside down… I feel more at ease in chaos than in calm. I am working on that
What is one thing that we (and everyone else) don't know about you?
I grew up on a farm riding horses and I am really a country girl. I still have chaps in my closet.
