Wanderlust 2011, Through The Eyes of An Artist via Todd Boston
The Wanderlust festival is an event that fuses together music, nature, yoga, community, and art to inspire and offer an experience like no other.
I was fortunate to participate and perform in three Wanderlust events in 2011 and I can say it is a special event that is sure to grow! All three were quite different but each offered high quality experiences with some of the best musicians, yoga teachers and people around.
Wanderlust Fillmore San Francisco
The event at the Fillmore San Francisco had a more urban vibe and was a great one day event at the legendary venue. Shiva Rea led an inspiring daytime class from the stage that so many greats have performed on and MC Yogi rocked the night time dance floor.
Wanderlust Stratton Vermont
The event in Stratton Vermont was an amazing time, east coast style. We had the honor of playing for the Anusara Grand Circle with John Friend for four days leading up to the main event. I was there for eight days total with Grammy winning percussionist Jeff Haynes by my side and we had a blast rocking it all week. A little bit of rain but everyone was so great it didn't even matter. A thursday opening concert with South African artist Vusi Mahlasela and a Saturday night concert with Michael Franti highlighted the event!
To bring it all full circle we came back home to California to participate in our second year at the event in Lake Tahoe. I thought last year was amazing but this year brought it to a whole new level. Ramesh Kannan (Tabla) and I joined the Anusara Inspired Gathering with John Friend for the four days leading up to the festival and we had the best time with a great community of Yogis and Artists.
Friday rolled around for an epic class in the Gaiam Tent with John Friend and over 650 practicing yogis rocking out to live music! It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life to date and something I will cherish for a long time.
The music was amazing once again with so many talented artists performing including an epic Friday night show by Michael Franti. The Moroccan style tea tent in Village Anusara hosted so many inspiring performances throughout the week and the art and nature combined was breathtaking.
Jeff Krasno, Sean Hoess and the entire Wanderlust crew are creating something truly special with a conscious effort to create a gathering to bring together wellness, music, nature and art. This is a unique festival that will continue to grow and grow for years to come.
