Kirtan Kriya: Serum for the Truth

The only reason I get stuck in my own suffering is because I’m not telling the truth. I choose to get blinded by my emotions. I choose to take things personally. I choose to forget my promises and therefore I begin to decrease in size. This hiding and not telling the truth, and then being ashamed of that, holds a weird level of power. In the bright light, I’m courteous and polite, in the moonless nights I keep secrets that nobody needs to know.
My life coach, Lauren Zander, says “What rules the dark side is one’s ability to lie.” The weight of a secret enables destructive behaviors that keep us out of integrity and therefore it’s like looking into a broken mirror.If our quest is to feel more complete, then how can we tease the dark side into showing its face?This is where the infinity symbol becomes symbolic of the work we have to do here. ∞ 

Each repetition of the entire mantra takes three to four seconds.  Saa Taa Naa Maa reflects the infinite wheel of life ∞, symbolizing the transition from light to dark, dark to light, ebb and flow, waxing and waning, inhale and exhale, beginning and ending. We can’t fear the dark any more than we fear losing the light. Saa Taa Naa Maa mantra is not how we perfect ourselves but rather, it’s how we can progress. By chanting this mantra, we are calling home our missing pieces and opening up a gateway to travel energetically into our light.  

To begin this meditation, sit in easy pose and visualize the energy as it enters the crown of the head and moves down and out through the third eye point. When we close our eyes and let the sound of the mantra flow through us, we clear our soul of all fear and doubt, reminding ourselves that we are always better than we think and stronger than we believe. 
While chanting, hands in Gyan Mudra. Each finger touches, in turn, the tip of the thumb with a firm but gentle pressure. In this meditation, the body is teaching us how not to lie. We begin to feel where we are stuck, imprisoned in our own broken reflection and then use repetitive mantras to rewire the thoughts. 

The mantra is chanted in the three languages of consciousness: Aloud, Whisper and Silent.  A mantra meditation is different from a silent meditation in that it reminds us of the power of our own voice. Mantra gives us practice speaking up and listening to our own truth. Play with it and let me know what you think in the comments below.
