Kelly Morris: Debunking the Feminine Myth
"Mistreat a woman and you're mistreating the earth," says Kelly Morris in her frank Hay House Speakeasy from Wanderlust Festival Vermont 2012, presented by Omega Institute.
Among the many questions Morris poses about female sexuality and gender roles, she asks, "In the western myth of creation in the Garden of Eden, woman is cursed. There is no role for woman in the myth of creation that we have. You're the problem, you're the bad seed, you're what made the whole thing go wrong. How do we feel about that, ladies?"
Join Kelly Morris of Conquering Lion Yoga as she sheds new understanding and perspective on the belief that the feminine and the earth are synonymous. In this lecture, Morris explores the history of our language as it pertains to masculinity and femininity, and debunks myths about femininity, the curse of women, and how even the latest sex scandals in yoga shape the way we view gender today. The only commentary she shared with us that she wanted us to pass along to our viewers was: "Please forgive all the swearing. Working on it."
We're sure that many of you will have thoughts on the piquant subjects Kelly explores in this candid talk. Please share them in the comments below.

Wanderlust Festival is indebted to Hay House who helped us realize the entire 2012 Speakeasy Lecture Series across all four festivals (Stratton, VT in June 2012; Copper Mountain, CO in July; Squaw Valley, CA in late July; and Whistler, BC, Canada in August). With Hay House's amazing roster of speakers (which you can witness in person at their incredible "I Can Do It" events), it's no wonder that they helped elevate the conversation at Wanderlust's Speakeasy this summer. We encourage you to stay tuned to the Hay House FB feed to make sure you know the next time one of their authors is speaking near you.
Stay tuned to our Wanderlust networks (Youtube | Facebook | Twitter) to catch our weekly Speakeasy Video releases from the likes of Dr. Wayne Dyer, Congressman Tim Ryan, Shiva Rea, Seane Corn, Eli Pariser, Irshad Manji, MC Yogi, Waylon Lewis (from Elephant Journal) and so many more.
