Countdown to Wanderlust Vermont: 7 Ways & 7 Days to Find Your True North

Posted by admin on 6/11/13 in Inspiration

We know that our #WLVT yogis are counting the sleeps until they awake in the Green Mountains of Vermont, so we wanted to provide you with some inspiration as you prepare for your journey to Wanderlust Vermont.  We've tapped 7 of our Wanderlust family to provide you with a countdown of 7 Ways & 7 Days to "Find Your True North" at the festival.  We will post their daily inspiration right here on this Wanderlust Journal blog page so that you can find all their insights in one place.

1 Day until Wanderlust Vermont... ELENA BROWER

The day of great anticipation has arrived! I'ts like Christmas Eve for many of our yogis, as they will have a hard time getting to sleep tonight with visions of colorful yoga mats, friends to meet and Green Mountains dancing in their head!  We awoke to sunshine and birds chirping here at Stratton Mountain, and it's perfectly apt that we wrap up our #WLVT coundown with a teacher who has been inspiring our guests at Wanderlust from the beginning, and who embodies the values that we hold dear to our hearts. Please click below to hear this thoughtful assignment from Elena Brower on what to do today ~ and every day ~ to help find your #truenorth:

What was it like to take your 20 min in nature? Did you do it on a lunch break? Or after dinner as the sun set? Post your response to Elena's lesson in mindful appreciation below to be entered to win a Wander-ful bag of yogic goodies that will assist you in your quest to find your #truenorth at #WLVT.

2 Days until Wanderlust Vermont...Farm to Table Chef: Kelly McNabb

Today we are happy to shine a little light on our hard-working friends at Stratton Mountain Resort (and satisfy your tastebuds), by having Stratton Head Chef Kelly McNabb chime in on her tip for how to find your #truenorth. Her advice, of course, centers around the choices you make as you prepare meals and stock the kitchen, click the image to the right to hear her message:

There are lots of ways to keep you nourished in the local manner at Stratton. The Double Diamond Café (located in base lodge) is open from 7am to 3pm on Thurs, and 7am to 10pm on the weekend and features delicious snacks, salads and sandwiches with a mediterranean flair for yogis on the go. New this year: the Mill House that you know and love is now a darling Café (pictured, below), which makes rolling out of bed to grab your morning espresso entirely easy and perfectly picturesque. Open from 7:30am onwards as well. And if you're looking for something a little beyond the darling village promenade, check out Tenderloins restaurant at the golf course, which serves parmesan truffle fries that will make *the* yummiest post-yoga reward! Open from 9am-5pm and later on weekends, you can get full table service, or order to go! Check their menu here.

3 Days until Wanderlust Vermont... DAN WILF

Today we love bringing one of our favorite people to your inbox: you may know him as the founder of YOGANONYMOUS, or perhaps he took you on a hike at Wanderlust once. What's that? You met him at the pool party at High Camp at Wanderlust California? Yep, that's our main man, Dan Wilf! He's here to give you his two cents on the way to find your true north on a daily basis until you get up here to the beautiful Green Mountains of Vermont:

His Hike-a-delic hikes are so popular that, alas, they're already signed up full for Vermont, but you can try to get on the waitlists by clicking here. If you're hoping to get in on the hike-a-delic groove this summer, there's still a wee bit of room left in his #WLCA hikes so get on it!

4 Days until Wanderlust Vermont... ANA FORREST

Was your first pranayama teacher a tiger? No? Well, here's your opportunity to take a pranayama lesson from someone who WAS taught by a tiger. We are delighted to share this insight from Ana Forrest, founder of Forrest Yoga, and Wanderlust Vermont yoga teacher & speaker.

This is Ana's first time at Wanderlust, and we highly recommend getting yourself into one of her unique classes while you're with us. She has classes like "Stalking Your Fears" and "Free Your Spine" and is delivering a Speakeasy lecture entitled "Ignite your Spirit with Fierce Medicine" on Thursday at 3:30pm.

5 Days until Wanderlust Vermont... SARAH NEUFELD

All the way from Italy (where she has been on tour), Sarah Neufeld chimes in with her mindful recommendation for you to find your true north in the 5 days leading up to Wanderlust Vermont.
You can find Sarah on site in the Speakeasy hosting a lecture/performance called "Open Ears/Open Mind: The Intersection of Yoga, Meditation and the Musician's Path", and on stage making music in The Greatest Place on Sat at 8pm.  Want to know more about how this fascinating artist incorporates her yoga & meditation practice into her art? Read up on our short interview with her in our recent Trailblazer feature here

6 Days until Wanderlust Vermont...NATASHA BLANK

With just 6 days to go until Wanderlust Vermont, we thought that we would pick an apt lesson for a Friday. We tapped Natasha Blank (who runs our Healing Village) to give you today's guidepost to finding your true north.
Now, given that the Healing Village at WLVT is offering incredible services like massage, energy work, Chinese Medicine and more, you'd expect Natasha to give you some soothing advice about calming your energy or self-massage, right? Wrong. Click below to learn what this wise woman prescribes for dropping in and centering your self:

Want more of Natasha's booty-shakin' goodness? Of course you do! Keep up with Natasha's Get Your Dance On groove by signing up for her daily dose right here, and then check out her upcoming events which, happily, include providing us with some sweaty late night grooves at our next 4 Wanderlust Festivals! Get Your Dance On at Friday's Juan MacLean DJ set or DJ Fabian's Saturday session (both presented by Flavorpill).

7 Days until Wanderlust Vermont...GABRIELLE BERNSTEIN

We're kicking off this "7 Ways & 7 Days to Find Your True North" countdown with the one-and-only Gabrielle Bernstein, who offers us some centering advice to incorporate into your daily routine.

We're increasingly glad to say that as the wait list for Gabrielle's Speakeasy lecture grew and grew, we moved her "May Cause Miracles" talk from the normal Speakeasy venue by Omega (the Chapel) to The Greatest Place by Gaiam ~ and it's almost at capacity again! You can try to squeeze into her lecture here, or catch her as part of the 'Out of Many, One' class on Saturday at 4pm, led by Seane Corn, Elena Brower, and featuring the beats of DJ Alsultany. This class is a music and asana mash-up of the voices of Wanderlust coming together to raise money for Off The Mat, Into the World, thanks to our partners at Toyota, who are donating $3 to OTM for every social media post featuring the tag #toyotagiving.

Stay tuned to this page for inspiration from an amazing cast of characters that will be helping you weave for Wanderlust experience: yoga teacher Ana Forrest, speaker Gabrielle Bernstein, our fave Hike-a-delic guru, Dan Wilf, and from meditating musicians like Sarah Neufeld and Garth Stevenson
