be present Celebrates 10 Years, Supports Wanderlust Colorado

When be present was founded 10 years ago by Jon and Amy Lopatin Dobrin, they decided to do their manufacturing in Colorado.  It made sense, since they lived in Denver and wanted to keep everything local.  Today, be present still uses the same sewers that made the first pair of be present pants, the same screen printer who printed the first be present tee, and the same embroiderer who put the first lotus on the back of a Breathe Weave™ pant (be present’s proprietary staple fabric).  All of be present’s clothing is made in the USA – which is not easy to come by now a days.  Their commitment to supporting the local community has pervaded the company values for the last decade and still does today.  It’s no surprise they would be involved in the first ever Wanderlust Colorado.

“We’re a small group of fun, active people that in a way, epitomizes what the Colorado lifestyle is about,” says Director of Marketing, Maggie Mistovich.  “We love yoga, we love to ski and snowboard, and we love being outside – in the mountains, so it makes complete sense to be a part of the Wanderlust Festival at Copper.”

What began as a humble operation with an office in the basement of Jon and Amy’s house has grown to be a global company.  While they remain a family-owned company, their clothing can be found all over the world.  Its unique styles stand apart in the yoga clothing industry, as its core of bottoms is made from a woven material (Breathe Weave™) – which is not commonly found in most yoga pant styles.  Amy still designs the be present styles sold today and is continually creating new ones each season.

“We began as a pant company based on the color philosophy of the chakras.  I wanted bright, woven pants to wear to yoga, so our first pants were based off a pair of bright pink pants that I had bought while traveling in Thailand,” says Amy.  “After about a year we did add black pants to the line, but we continue to have 7 chakra colors in the line each season.”  The Spring 2012 collection has 7 new Breathe Weave™ colors, to go along with 5 staple colors, offered year round.

The be present team is excited to experience Wanderlust in its backyard this year.  They’ll most likely be seen wandering around in brightly colored Agility and Mobility Pants or Baja Shorts.  Stop by their booth in the vendor village to say hi and Happy 10th Birthday!
